Safety

Think and act in a safe manner. Always disconnect power and use a lockout before you work on the E-coat system, or any of the related subsystems. Observe any confined space conditions. Use the appropriate safety equipment and clothing for the task. Please carefully read all the instructions listed below to familiarize yourself with the project before attempting to perform any of the work.

Required Materials

  • S-80 Heavy Body Glue
  • S-80 PVC Primer

Required Tools

  • Strap Wrench
  • Pipe Wrench
  • Flat Head Screwdriver
  • 2 - ½ Wrenches

Step 1

Carefully remove shell from bulkhead. "Pull" shell from Electrode.

Step 2

Remove old Electrode from bulkhead.

Step 3

Attach the bulkhead to the tab of the new Electrode with given bolt set. Before tightening the bolt set, slip the tubing onto the hosebarb. Once the tubing is in position, tighten the bolt set and cover Fm adapter threads with Teflon tape.

Step 4

Tighten Fm adapter onto bulkhead.

Step 5

Insert the Electrode assembly into the shell. Be sure to line up the diamond match marks before gluing in place. Once the marks are lined up, apply heavy body PVC primer to the neck of the shell and to the Fm adapter with two separate applications.

Step 6

Apply heavy body PVC cement to primed areas and connect together. Be sure the Electrode is seated into the shell and that the neck and adapter are flush against each other.

NOTE: Use a substantial amount of heavy body cement.
